I'd do some basic SID down your seam lines to hold everything in place and to reduce any possibility of shifting after repeated washes. Then add all the ties you want. I tied quilts for my kids when they were little and I found that some of the ties did pull out or eventually tear the fabric. The embroidery floss worked better I think because it wasn't as thick as the Sayelle (4 ply yarn) I first used before I knew better. It's a really cute quilt that will be treasured for years.
