I was invited to my friend's cabin in Lakeport, CA -- near Clearlake for a weekend and to attend the quilt show. There were lots of baskets to be won and I spend a whopping $5 on tickets. Everyone always wants to win the quilt related basket and the bag containing the potential winner was crammed. So, since I have a niece expecting a second baby in March, I put the majority of my tickets into the baby baskets. Notice I said baskets -- as in plural! 3 baskets were 1 prize. I put 5 of my tickets in the bag never thinking I had a chance. The drawing was at 4:00 on Sunday and we left to come home before noon. No call came that day but the following morning I received a call that I had indeed won the 3 baskets. Yippee! Once I went through the baskets and found some great stuff for a new baby boy I put together one big basket and will be donating the girl stuff to charity. Best item in the baskets was a large hand crocheted blanket in white, blue and tan.
My niece is going to love it. It does pay to support your local quilt show and guild by purchasing tickets.
