What a small world - my brother attended Mass. Maritime Academy from 1955-58. My cousin also attended a couple of years later.
My oldest fabric is some cotton I used to make my maternity clothes 44 years ago. I wasn't quilting then only sewing a little. Not knowing what to do I simply took the leftover fabric and made 4" squares. I added squares from clothes I made for my daughter a couple of years later. Then put those squares together into blocks which I still have in a bag. I never went any further with the project. Would the fabric still be ok to make something with?
Years later I made a quilt of sorts from a bedspread, old quilt and a sheet. My son loved his Stars Wars bedspread but beds weren't being made daily so I figured it would look nicer to have a comforter/quilt. I finally really started to make quilts about 8-9 years.
