Hi All,
I'm Sue (or Dutchie, if you prefer) and I hang my hat (and my scissors) in Sacramento, CA. I'm a newbie quilter but have sewed on and off for years. Being disabled and retired, I've been searching for a new something to keep me active and involved with people. I've always adored quilts and have made a couple of simple patchwork quilts over the years. I'm looking forward to learning a whole new craft and to crafting some beautiful quilts for my friends and family.

I've dug out several quilting projects that I've started over the years and have settled on a simple quilt of a pre-printed cotton tapestry from India for starters. The batting has been ordered and is on its way.

Here's my question. I have some 10 yards of 54" doeskin, probably a poly blend. I'm thinking of using this as a backing. I know lots of people go cotton all the way but I'd like to use up what I have on hand. What pitfalls do I look out for with non-cotton backing?

Sue
