Heres how I have done it:
1. Find a large space, large enough to lay out the backing.
2. Use masking tape to pull the fabric taut.
3. Cut the batting about the same size as the backing and smooth it out.
4.Now, lift the batting from one of the shorter ends and fold it back over the other half.
5. Spray the glue ONTO THE BATTING on the half that faces upward. (the part you folded back)
6. Bring the sprayed half of the batting down onto the backing fabric and press lightly to make it stick.
7. Repeat steps 4 thru 6 with the other half of the batting.
8. The batting and the backing are now glued together.
9.Place the quilt top on top of the batting
10. Fold back one half of the quilt top to expose half of the batting and spray the glue ON THE BATTING.
11. Repostion the top and press gently to make that half stick
12. Repeat with the other half of the quilt top.
13. Let dry for a few hours.
14. If you get glue residue on the floor or whatever you are using to hold the quilt, it can be removed with water and soap.
Have fun!

I should have said, 3."Lay the batting on top of the backing and smooth it out !
