I wondered the same thing.I can usually get a couple points to match, but when I have rows of points,I use a glue stick.
You're putting glue in the quarter inch seam, not where you sew....if that makes sense.You sew under the glue spot & it works good. Another thing to try is making sure seams are pressed in diff directions, so they nest together better. When matching rows, I glue,sew maybe 5 stitches ,check it, then do same to next intersection etc.When all is matched,I sew the whole long seam.
