After loosing my Mom 2002 I grieved more than I expected or it may have been the beginning of menopause I was too stupid to realize! Anyway as therapy I finally finished a quilt I started several years before added borders to make it fit a real bed. The comfort therapy was I decided to try the pictures I had been studying in articles to make a memory quilt-genealogy is my main hobby.
I deceided to "applique" the pictures framed with frame not sewn flat to seem like a real frame. I was afraid the pictures might not stand up to time and use and I did not want to ruin the quilt if they didn't. I tried the printable fabric sheets you iron on and the printable sheet transfers to iron on cloth. I definitely preferred the iron on transfers (June Tailor brand?).
I have carried this quilt every time I traveled, it is my bedspread and has been washed several times in the washer-gently.
The pictures have continued to be just as nice as when I completed it.
I will try to take a picture of it and post it. It is so big I haven't figured out how to photograph showing all of it's features.
But back to the point it was very healing and comforting to me and the pictures have done well with washings and use.
