In Australia, these places use what is called newsprint paper. It is the unprinted newspaper quality paper that is often used for jotters or scrapbooks, so is an entirely different product. We don't have the same freezer paper in the supermarkets, but there are two sewing and home furnishing chains called Spotlight and Lindcraft that supply these sorts of things.
