I know it must have given you mixed feelings. I am sorry it had to work out this way for the couple who had to give it up and for you knowing they couldn't keep it. It would be hard for me to bite my tongue but I think that is the right thing to do.
I also vote to keep it, say nothing and assure it is visible at any gathering one of them might attend. We do not know what else they may have had to give up at the same time. No, I wouldn't be making them one for their silver anniversary.
Thank you for sharing with us. It is a possible reality for each of us, we just don't all get to know it.
