I use my serger to bind the raw edges of all my fabric before I wash it.
i got mine years ago when I was using a knitting machine and you would cut a band out of a sweatshirt and make a knit pattern band and then sew into the sweatshirt so you have a pattern around the middle.
When I first got mine I read the instructions and put it back in the box for 5 years. Them one day decided that was stupid. So I dug it out but I couldn't get the thing threaded so I got my husband to thread it for me and he still does.
Now I love it . Also great for quillows out of polar fleece.
but don't unthread it and if you want to change colors tie the new thread to the end of the old and pull it through so it never unthreads. i haven't tried it but a sewing teacher I had told me that.
Ho also don't run it at 90 mph because you will run into problems at least on mine doesn't like going fast. but it gives me no problems if i run it at a normal speed.
hope this helps.
