1976 must have been the year to start quilts. Mine are Monkey Wrench blocks that I started right after I was married from fabric from my family home. I made a few and stuffed it in a shoe box. Fast forward to summer 2010. I finally started cleaning out the top high shelf (you need a ladder) in my sewing room and found them. I was going to just tip them all in the trash but when I really looked at them, I just couldn't. There were all the little bits of my past, my 4-H blouse, my grade eight dress, the camper curtains etc. I got busy, starched the **** out of all that old fabric and stitched enough blocks to make two large lap or single bed sizes for quilts for my sister and me. It will be a priceless family memory as we lost our parents recently and the family home was cleaned out and sold. It will be a little hello from the past each time we use it. I hope to get them quilted soon and give one to my sister for her birthday.
