And I have a few more to add to the list.

Waiting for a school at the corner of the street without your parents to "drop you off" or "pick you up". Metal dashboards and no seat belts. Going for a bike ride to see your friends and they lived 2 miles away. When jelly came in glasses - and you collected them. I still have the dictionary my mom collected (one letter per week) from the supermarket. Oh, how about the cable cars with the sparks and taxi cabs with those little fold down stools to sit on.

Just had to add a few things. The other day I was lecturing about "positive transfer" a term used to explain learning one thing can "transfer" to other new behaviors. Well, I made the mistake of using my example of learning to drive on a standard transmittion (on the column) It took 3 minutes to explain that the shift lever was in fact on the steering column! I think some still don't believe me.
