Mum has promised to look at the quilt with her glasses off. Problem solved. Now why didn't I think of that sooner! :)
Kitsapquilter - I always wash all my quilts before giving them away. My quilts are hand quilted, and take months (literally) to make. By the time they are completed the light fabric tends to look a bit icky. I also want my quilts to smell fresh when received. Also if something goes wrong - as it did with this quilt - then I should be the one to fix it. I would hate for my Mum to worry that she had ruined it.
I feel the same! Regardless of whether it is hand or machine pieced and quilted the first wash happens at my house. That way any issues are mine to fix before the gift is given. And I always give washing instructions in case the receiver hasn't gotten a homemade quilt before. Absolutely beautiful quilt! Love the colors and the design!
