I don't think you mentioned what machine you are using. Longarm, midarm, shortarm??
Your panto should have colored dashed lines for the starter row and adjacent rows. After you finish your quilting row, line up your laser light or stylus with the closest line on your adjacent row, then advance your quilt till the laser or stylus lines up with that same exact spot on the quilting line of the pattern. I put tic marks on mine so that they line up perfectly.
