Flylady has a printed list of things you should have with you at all times at home, just for such emergencies. Check them out, you just might need to grab and run one of these days.
And at home..lots and lots of quilts, sleeping bags, bottled water in large containers, know where medicines are, where pet meds and food and leashes/cages are, etc. Baby foods, diapers, personal needs, etc. Lots and lots of etc. And keep your cars half full of gas or more all the time.
