Hi Berta,

The older machines did not have a zigzag stitch, so their straight stitch is absolutely beautiful. Until you see the stitching, you won't understand what I mean.

They also just don't die. They are very well made, all metal, and if they are taken care of, could probably still be working hundreds of years from now.

The Featherweights are just adorable and sew beautifully. Most find that the case is molded from being stored in a basement and you have to watch for rust on the bottom as well, but mine is in fabulous condition and I love every scratch on it knowing it was well used by the prior owner.
