In two weeks the local theater group is holding auditions for "Alice in Wonderland". I haven't done a play for a year and a half.

I'd really like to get the Queen of Hearts. I always end up with these really minor roles that aren't really a big part of the production and nobody really cares about. I want something major. And the other roles I found I never really enjoyed. First play I acted in was Mrs. Gloop in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and besides having little stage time my friend got to play Wonka and he was such a show boat about it (like bragging how his highlighter ran out of ink because of the number of lines he had) that he pretty much ruined the experiance for me (because of it I just about quit two nights before the play opened and my other friend had to talk me out of it). Second play was "Beauty and the Beast" where I just played an extra with several roles, but one of them (the female wolf in the forest scenes...I called her "Lupe") was one I actually liked doing because I got to be very expressive. But I played Lupe for like five minutes total. "Arsenic and Old Lace" was my last play and had to play the love interest to the same friend who bragged about being Wonka two years prior. It was weird playing his love interest and on top of that I had to play a total girl with manners and politeness so it was a very hard role to do. So for the more "major" characters I've played they've been kind of dull and boring with short stage time and the one that was interesting and expressive had an even shorter stage time.

I think I'd really enjoy playing the Queen of Hearts. I really like her! She'd be an interesting character to play and she's very expressive. And who doesn't like her as the villian? I sure do! Wish me luck!
