We are in the tail end of Indian Summer. It has been beautiful - little nippy, but sun out and you can still feel the warmth on your face. But tomorrow, it is supposed to start getting cold. And that means snow is on the way. We usually get a few flurries here and there (we already had one, but it didn't stay on the ground, just hit the windshield on the car and sort of slapped you in the face) and then we get hit good! We survived the winter of 1991-1992 when we had the worst blizzard on Hallowe'en. Yard was full of candy bars come Spring and the snow melted. That was funny. But that was 20 years ago. It has been relatively easy as far as winter goes here. Every month during winter we have a PIP report in the newspaper. PIP means PAIN IN the POSTERIOR report - It tells the low temperature, the high temperature, the snow fall, the ice, everything relative to winter (snow emergencies, etc.) and it can get pretty wicked even since 1992, but I don't ever remember it worse than that! We had snow up to the top of our clothesline pole. It was like we were walking through corridors to get to the front or to the garage. It was fun though. I love snow until the 25th of December. Then I hate it! I hate being cold, I am scared to drive in the snow, I hate the ice. My husband fell last winter, broke his arm, had to have surgery to pin it back together and put a steel plate in his arm. And he is 74. So this year it is going to bother me even more, because I am going to be more protective of him(He doesn't like that). Anyhow, we get through winter and listen to the sounds of the robins that have come back and see the crocuses coming up and that first dandelion. What a sight. A lady went to England and saw that sweet little flower and brought it back to the United States and that is how these lawn care companies make their millions, from a little old lady who loved the flower known as the Dandelion! I wonder who brought in Crabgrass!!! Enjoy the day, hot or cold. Be grateful that we are here to enjoy it! We have a roof over our heads, a sewing machine at hand and fabric up the you know what. What else do we need - cup of tea, coffee, a coke, hey, how bout a glass of wine? Any of you ever try Choco-Vin. It is a red wine mixed with chocolate - to die for!!!!!!! Tastes a little like Bailey's. I got a bottle from my sister for my birthday and am waiting for the BIG BLIZZARD to drink it! Have a great day! Edie
