The way I crocheted around fleece was to take the yarn and thread a large eyed needle and do a a blanket stitch around fleece. Then you can go back and crochet into each stitch. You can start with a sc as your 1st row then 2nd row do a dc in a shell pattern. to turn corners just increase st in what ever stitch you are doing
