She and I are closer than my own mother and I. We are very much alike. I am so thankful that she taught me to sew, it's changed my life and brought me such happiness!
I also had a wonderful MIL. My own mother died when I was a senior in high school. When I met my future MIL I was not quite "finished" yet. She took me under her wing and taught me to crochet and cook. I knew how to sew from school, but we spent many hours looking at fabrics and patterns. She died in 2008 at the tender age of 102 and I miss her every single day. She really "got" me. Knew what I liked (and I her) and helped in so many ways. When I'm at the machine she's always near.
