I wanted to make a king sized quilt for my step daughter and husband for Christmas. I had been gathering fabrics for a black, white and red quilt and decided it would be perfect for them.
The biggest quilt I have quilted on my Janome was a queen and it was a struggle. I decided to do a version of quilt as you go.
I made nine blocks with nine smaller blocks in each. I did simple quilting because the fabric is so busy, quilting wouldn't show very well anyway.
It was still a bear to handle by the time I got to adding the last few big blocks to the quilt.
Today I finished sewing it together and started sewing on the binding which I made from leftovers from the quilt. I also made my joining strips from the leftovers so it blends in pretty well.Tomorrow I will finish the binding and throw it in the washer.
It measures about 116" square.
I'll post pictures tomorrow if it doesn't fall apart when I wash it!  I don't think I will ever be so happy to have something finished!!
