I flew with 2 stops with a sewing machine in it's own box and never had a problem. It was a pfaff basic mechanical that I was taking to one of our daughters. It fit just fine in the overhead compartment and although I got a few giggles had no problems whatsoever. Just those "only a mother" would do that......
