Maybe you are stitching too long in one place. Try moving the fabric faster with less speed on the needle. Let us know!
You may need to tighten the upper tension, other than that its a combination of moving the quilt and the speed you are running the machine. You have to strike a balance. The free motion slider does help the quilt move more easily on the bed of the machine, but mostly its just finding the right combination of machine speed and your movements. :-)
You are so right about helping you FMQ, What it is intended for is to let you move the quilt a little easier.
