Tradition is alive in the farming community where I attended a quilt show today. 124 quilts and just one 'art' quilt. 124 quilts and all were gorgeous with great workmanship except one. I was absolutely in awe of many of them. The only thing that I would change is the heavy machine quilting. I like my quilts cuddlier than some of the overquilted ones were. This is, of course, just my opinion and certainly is not meant as a criticism of anyone's style of quilting.
It was an experience seeing that much beauty in one place. I know 124 isn't many, but it's more than enough for my brain to assimilate in one day. I may have to go back tomorrow. The colors were just so awesome.
A SM /saleman/repairman was there with a lot of pretty black Singers from another era. I was surprised at the prices they bring. He also had a White for $60 like my mother's pride and joy. I asked him if it worked. He said he thought so, but hadn't looked at it much. Wouldn't you think a SM repairman and saleman would know more about his product, even if it's not a Singer? It was strange standing next to my grandmother's sewing machine (a Singer) looking at my mother's.
