I had purchased the Viking 6030 in 1971-72. If memory serves me correctly, they took a common metal bobbin. Your friend has purchased a workhorse:-) Since I didn't retain any bobbins when I passed that machine forward, I suggest you post your question to the Virtual section for Vintage Sewing Machines.
