I made my DD a set ....of a quilt,shams & pillows,along with a framed block.They live in Fl, so during the hottest mos,she keeps the quilt folded across the bottom 1/3rd & props the pillows along the headboard.It's a guest room, but very easy to move the quilt off if the bed is needed.

Or you could fold it and keep it over the foot of the bed. With a plainer, solid spread or duvet, the quilt will still be your focal point.
