They offer bags of buttons (of course it is what you get, as is) and usually it is about 4 pounds. It is easy to place a bid and they will inform you if you are overbid. I have an example for you; I placed a bid on a Blue Singer 1945 sewing machine in v. good condition, parts,(of yes and there are pictures of items being auctioned).
