I'm making myself one for Christmas. I took a plastic template for octagons, and put a ruler against each side and drew new lines, continued it till it was almost past the half my table size. Now all I have to do is cut out each of the different sizes and add seam allowances, cut the fabric and sew them together. I already have cream and charcoal, which matches most of my newly painted small dining room and front room, both of which you can see from the front door. I think some brownish maroon, which is the big couch, and some muted red/blue/yellow which is in the several very old Mexican wool thingeys draped over things, especially my two cats' stools in front of the dining room window. (They fight over who sits in who's chair, just like kids).
