I have a question about that. I was planning to do the same the next time but if you have a quilt with points and no border, does it cut off some of your points? If so is it really that noticeable? I think if I had something with points on the outer edge I would just put a narrow border on it but if I didn't have enough fabric I would have to somehow not do that. Maybe cut the backing and batting to 1/8" bigger?[/quote]

If you have made your block correctly, you will have 1/4 from the point to the edge of the block. When you sew your binding on - say the front, you would be sewing 1/4 in, and that would be right at the points. If you sew on the back and bring to the front, you would just made the edge meet the points.
