Cindy, I've had this machine for four years. DH surprised me with it, and I'll admit I was disappointed (but didn't tell him) because I was hoping some day to have a "real" machine. I decided to go ahead and use it until it broke. Well, I was surprised again. It works great and offered a lot more options for me than my 25 year old Kenmore. I still use my Kenmore on occasion but this Brother is my go-to machine. It's pretty lighweight but I think a real bargain for the price. A thumbs-up from me! Go for it if you can.
