welcome from Maine. One summer I backpacked in the Baltic and met quilters. One was from the UK but was visiting her mother in Wroclaw. We went to a large store that had fabrics and the next week I taught a class in making 9 patch squares. No one spoke english and I didn't know Polish. Quilting is a hands on craft o we got along just fine. I bought some great cotton fabric made in Poland and have used it to back some wall hangings.
Poland is so beautiful in the countryside and so very sad and poor. Why are you in Poland??
