I just finished this quilt for my DS and DDIL as a Christmas gift. They have traveled extensively in Asia and are quite fond of Asian culture. The center square is a silk batik from Indonesia which I echo quilted with gold metallic thread by hand, and the borders are machine quilted. I also hand quilted all the outlines in the Bhudda figure to make it stand out. The red border picks up the red in the small border and is representative of a wish for good luck. The color red is seen as good luck in Asia.
