ROYGBIV is the acronym for the "rainbow colors" Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet (purple). I don't use the Indigo... otherwise it's the 6 part color-wheel that many of us have in our "tools/supplies" drawer.
R, Y and B are the primaries; O, G, V are the secondaries made by mixing the adjacent primaries. If you bend ROYGBV into a circle, the B and R make the V... etc.
