Have you done this? I never thought of doing it that way.
I used the method of making quick half sq. triangles and this is the quilt top I just finished. It was a lot of work because of the bias edges, but it went together very well, though I really had to take my time sewing and had to starch, starch and more starch.

I am going to cut on the diagonal next time, but it does use more fabric to do it that way. I did a couple of hst using the sq. ruler on the diagonal and the results are great. I just have not figured out yet how much more fabric I will need to do it that way.
