Honestly, I'm hardly sure I know. It's a machine that you pump with your foot, correct? Is there an implied value from the term? I think they are cool machines, and I've never tried one so I truly don't know.
A treadle machine sews just like a regular sewing machine. EXCEPT YOUR LEG (or legs if you use either) get tired. And your arm, too, since you have to "start" the machine by rolling the machine pully on the right side. (I did square dance outfits including cancans on my mom's treadle decades ago! and a couple wedding dresses and several bridesmaids dresses)
Adding treadle to the name would let buyers know the person is dedicated to sewing.
Guess it would pay to include a sketch of the machine, huh?
