My explanation: needle felting is when you fuse wool to wool. I have attached a picture of the pincushions that I make, I needle felt the wool flowers to the felted wool base.
Needle felting locks the wool fibers together. They also have machines that looks like a sewing machine that needle felts, I believe you can use it to make scarves made out of just felted threads, you can use it on all kinds of projects.
