You don't have to finish everything you do in a class. You learned the technique that you took the class for, and I expect you learned how to do it correctly, so I'd put the project away for the time being and move on. You may come back to it later and like it better, but if not, it appears you don't have too much fabric invested in it, so no big loss. Better than trying to finish something you don't like and are not pleased with. I'm a big fan of "cut your losses and move on!"
