I just finished this for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday. I have taken pictures of each square and will put them in a book with a little rhym or story to go with the picture...ie "Can you find where mommy and daddy went to college?".... the cover of the photo/book will have granddaughter's picture and say "I spy with Emma".
She loves pokey little puppy, so I have tried to add a puppy to the corner...
the label is a paper pieced puppy...
I didn't use any batting, just fleece... worked well and not too heavy. Quilter 1234
