"Can I make a quilt with 5 fat quarters, and what pattern would that be?

Five fat quarters will give you a little over 1 yard of fabric. So, if you are looking to make a small wall hanging or quilt, 5 fat quarters might work.

However, even a small baby quilt that is 36 inches square will require additional material.

Many quilters who specialize in working with fat quarters suggest that you begin with 5-6 fat quarters and then add border and background fabrics as regular yardage. Once you have the quilt top finished, you will also need fabric for your backing, which you would likely purchase from a bolt."
