For batiks and other dark fabrics, I tend to soak them in warm water for a while and see if they bleed, I also rub them while wet with a piece of muslin, if they I don't see any color bleeding in the water or muslin, I just wash them like normal, if I see color bleed, I wash them in Retayne following the instructions on the bottle.
