When I give away a quilt I hope that it will be used because I cringe when thinking of using quilts I've done myself--so knowing that someone else is using it makes me feel better. Unless it was specifically an art quilt made for wall-hanging then it is a blanket and is supposed to be used... but it is painful to think of inflicting any potential wear and tear on something I've spent so much time on.
I went to my sister's house when my first nephew was a toddler and she had the quilt I made for her son laid out on the floor like a play mat. I was happy she was using it... but if it had been at my house with a quilt I hadn't given away I would have had an aneurysm! :)
