Yes Kathie you need to oil or use sewing machine grease on all the moving parts of the treadle.
I oil/grease (with sewing machine grease) the moving parts of the treadle and clean it with Liquid Gold. The Liguid Gold really shines up the irons on the treadle and it is good for the pitman if you have the wood pitman.
