Thank you all for your input. As a former lead for the fabric dept. at HL I can tell you that when ordering muslin, it was never listed as "kona". But having said that, they do carry some very nice muslins. Kona was only listed as such for the "calico wall" which there is a wide variety of colors.
I may get a yard of the muslin from fabric.com to try with the redwork I am doing. I am trying to motivate myself into sewing after a 6 month funk. There are quilts I want to make but can't get in gear. That's why I started doing some redwork embroidery, something I can do while watching tv. Hoping I will break out the sewing machine when I have the squares done and make a wall hanging or something with them. Taking baby steps here.
