Sounds high to me and I would question the parts that they replaced. Why did they need replacing? Did they show you the old parts? Ask to save any old parts, this goes for anything, not just your sewing machine. There are too many dishonest people out there.

I agree, always ask for the old parts. My late DH always did that with cars, and it was surprising how low the estimation got suddenly after that. Ask for the old parts BEFORE asking how much it will be...might surprise you. Tell them you are making a hanging shadow box to remind you how much your machine has cost you.
