After you piece the top, lay it wrong side up on 3 layers of fabric a little large than the stocking. Pin, then sew around the stocking. I usually just use the foot width as my guide.Cut out the stocking, all layers. Trim curves if needed. Turn the stocking right side out and it is now stocking front and 3 matching shapes. Machine baste the front and 1 layer together. Now you have your stitching all hidden, and 2 layers for your back. continued
