Hi there, I also felt a bit frustrated with the circles on the dresden plate so decided to see what one would look like with an octagonal centre. I have always been a very symmetrical person and feel that circles don't always look exactly round no matter how careful we are. The octagon with it's eight sides is very easy to position, especially on a dresden plate made with 16 pieces as each point matches every second seam or half way betweeen the seams, which ever you prefer. The dresden plate with it's peaked edges then matches really well with the peaks on the octagonal centre. Just had to try one and I loved it. I am a convert since then. Just love perfect corners.
