Because solid fabrics wider than 44-45" are not available here in the quality I want to have I always piece the tops and the backings of my quilts. I only use cotton because I don't like that shinny look.
Kona cottons are fabrics with a good quality but for me they are a little to coarse. I always try to find fabrics with a higher thread count (as far as I know the Konas has 60x60 per inch, I try to find a 75x75)like the P&B brand or Moda Bella Solids.
