I believe the definition of 'quilt (n.)' currently used by most quilting organizations (as opposed to a dictionary) is 'three layers joined together by stitching'. At least that's what I see in all competition rules, traditional and otherwise. Does not have to be batting in the middle, does not have to be stitched with thread, size does not matter, purpose does not matter. You don't have to agree, but they are the ones making the rules so they get to call it what they want. :roll:
