Ok we are ready...that is, me and Teddy lol...he lives under my cutting table and he is pleased as punch right now and waiting for scaps to fall so he can steal them. Only this time there are no scraps.

The pattern is ready. I think I will measure each strip and make a note on the pattern.

ok, I picked about 14 lights and 16 darks and will just pick them at random as I sew. For this kind of piecing, because they are 1 and 1 1/4 strips, I will tear the strips. I am tearing along the straight of grain. I hardly ever cut accross the grain of fabric, as that is not the correct way (sorry about that).

I prefer to tear as this is just too much cutting and I can tear up lots of strips very fast and get going.

I have put a mat by my machine with my small old iron, so everything is ready. I will do three blocks before I post again so you can see how they will nest.

I am now going to go and put a back belt on (one like workers use) because I will be doing a lot of sitting and the belt will help so I don't get back pain. I do try to remember to get up at least every half hour or so. I dont' have a bad back or anything, I just try to avoid one lol.
