You did fine. You have attachments - I have none and your case looks much better than mine, though mine may look a little better after I clean and polish it.
My case is in beautiful condition. I bet some of that Old English oil for dark/medium wood would make yours look brand new. The only thing I found wrong with my machine is that I can't adjust the stitch length. When I turn the knob, nothing happens - the stitch length remains the same.
